Villa Life

There are dozens of locations on the luxurious estate to relax, read, listen to music, or enjoy the sheer beauty of the villa's natural surroundings. Hammocks, gazebos and lounge chairs are spread throughout the property, with careful thought and attention paid to every detail from the waterfall in the Zen garden to the sunbeds on the beach.

For the early risers, Blue Mountain coffee and tea are available from 7:00 am. While everyone else is asleep, have a cup of coffee and watch the fisherman motor their colorful boats to fish or bring up lobster traps. In the cool of the morning play tennis, work out in the fitness room or enjoy yoga from a qualified local instructor, or book a spa treament including massage. If you'd like tennis lessons ask Blossom to call Delroy, the local tennis pro.

"Sunny days are the norm, and a sunbather's delight..."

Breakfast is between 9:00 - 9:30. Breakfast will include fresh fruit, orange juice, cereals, toast or johnny cakes (a Jamaican breakfast bun with meat inside). Also there will be a main course selected from menu list of pancakes, french toast, eggs, omelette and breakfast meats.

After breakfast, you can go on an adventure and see some of the many sites and activities in the area. Click on the Local Attractions tab for links to web sites or videos. Or, you can sunbathe by the pool or on the beach, go snorkeling or scuba diving.

Lunch is around 12:30 - 1:00 and served in the gazebo by the pool or pool house depending on the size of your group. Lunch is generally salads, sandwiches, fish, jerk chicken, hamburgers or hot dogs, etc.

After lunch there's time for more sunning at the beach or by the pool, a volleyball game, basket ball hoops, reading and cat naps. Or walk down to James Bond Beach and have a beer at the bar or go for a glass bottom boat ride with Captain Sims. Captain Sims will pick you up at the Golden Clouds and take you for a boat ride to view tropical fish or to stop and snorkel. Ask Kenneth to put a cooler together of drinks. Or arrange spa services such as massages and mani/pedicures.

Dinner is always an event at Golden Clouds. A beautiful table setting with white glove service complements the extraordinary meals served by David, the butler, and meticulously prepared by our chef, Ms. Blossom. The candlelit dinner service consists of three courses and is served in the main dining room with a spectacular moonlight view of the sea and the hills of Oracabessa in the distance. After dinner, there is a choice of games such as ping-pong, a swim in the lighted swimming pool, an extensive movie collection in the media room, or a leisurely walk through the gardens and paths of the well-lit property.

The weather will often decide how a day progresses. Sunny days are the norm, and a sunbather's delight, but the property also provides many seating areas for those who prefer to enjoy the warm weather from a shady spot. With hundreds of trees on the property, and numerous gazebos and sunbrellas, finding a cool shady place to relax is never a problem.

Rains are usually brief and gentle, and on the rare occasion when stronger winds and even thunderstorms occur, the villa provides a wonderful opportunity to witness the power of nature from a safe place. Golden Clouds has stood the test of time and weathered four major hurricanes in its 100 year history. Its magnificent design and construction provide the maximum safety from the elements, while providing wonderful views and vistas from everywhere on the property. When inclement weather does occur, the villa's well-stocked games room and extensive DVD collection are popular pastimes.
